Nigeria has a growing population and urbanizing rapidly. It is estimated that up to 700,000 houses in different market segments are needed annually to keep up with demand. Currently production is estimated at 100,000. Plugging this massive housing supply gap is fundamental to Nigeria’s goal of establishing herself as a solid middle-income country. This statewide report seeks to understand the various market segments as well as policy and institutional impediments to competitiveness of housing supply in four strategic market locations in Nigeria namely; Lagos, Abuja, Ogun and Rivers.
